![]() Whirlpool said that the tech only submitted one claim within that timeframe. This was still going on as of December 2022 at which point, Whirlpool told me that they would give me 15% off the purchase of a new one(then changed to 25%) because it was out of the warranty period, even though I had notified the service tech within the warranty period. The service tech came back numerous times to top up with Freon over the next two years but I could never seem to get an answer on what Whirlpool was going to do about it. I notified the authorized service tech and the place that I purchased the products from that this one must have a freon leak as well. In under a year in 2020, the third refrigerator started to fail(Freon leak) as well. In under a year in 2018, the second refrigerator failed(Freon leak) and was finally replaced in 2019 under warranty. The first one started to fail(Freon leak) after it was out of the warranty period after about 2 years, in 2016, so I had to buy another one eventually in 2017, and also ended up buying the freezer again because the style had changed. It is my hope that Whirlpool will address these concerns and provide better warranty options for their customers in the future.Īwful product…awful customer care…never again I’ve had 3 of these fail in approximately 7 years. I cannot recommend purchasing a refrigerator with such limited warranty coverage, as it does not provide sufficient peace of mind or long-term protection for such a substantial investment.ĭespite the initial positive experience and the standout feature of ample storage space, the lack of adequate warranty coverage and unresolved warranty issues overshadow my overall satisfaction with the product. This attempt to upsell during a time when I was seeking resolution felt inappropriate and potentially taking advantage of the situation.Ĭonsidering the significant investment of a $2000 fridge, it is disheartening to see that it only comes with a one-year warranty. To make matters worse, while discussing the issue with customer service, they took the opportunity to offer me a one-year extended warranty for an additional $400. The explanation provided by the representatives was unclear, leaving me unsatisfied and frustrated with the warranty discrepancy. Seeking assistance, I contacted customer service, only to be informed that this particular model was not covered under the warranty, unlike other similar models such as the French Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator or Side by Side Refrigerators. However, my positive experience took a turn when the fridge suddenly stopped working after just two years of use, despite following the manufacturer's recommended cleaning and maintenance guidelines. Initially, the refrigerator performed as expected, and I was impressed with its spaciousness, allowing for ample storage of groceries. with high expectations due to its brand reputation and features. However, I feel that paying full price for the trim kit is not something that I should have to do.Limited Warranty Coverage and Unresolved Issues I purchased the 31-inch Wide SideKicks® All-Refrigerator with LED Lighting - 18 cu. I am willing to pay some for the new trim kit. Whirlpool, if you respond to this review, please give me the phone number where a live person will actually pick up to speak to me. I am extremely disappointed but unfortunately due to our cabinet configuration I am stuck with these money sucking products. We will NOT purchase any more Whirlpool products ever. Whirlpool is a sorry excuse for an American company. The online chat was useless and a waste of time. I was on hold for over an hour and never spoke to a live person. So, now I have to buy this trim kit even though all I need is the new bottom piece. The model numbers are even the same! However, it was clear once we received the new refrigerator that the bottom of the old trim kit will not work with the new refrigerator. The opening requirements were identical for both trim kits (the one I purchased and the one currently being sold) and there was no clear indication that the current trim kit was any different. I was mad enough already about my 6 year old refrigerator dying so I hope that the $500 I spent on my trim kit in 2014 wasn't also at stake. ![]() I researched buying a replacement refrigerator and whether or not it was compatible with my existing trim kit. Changed Design I purchased this trim kit in 2014 along with my refrigerator (Model No.EL88TRRWS) and freezer (Model No.W10326801A).
